AppSumo Black Friday: A Planning Guide for Indian Course Creators
How AppSumo's Black Friday sale has worked in past years, how to build a shortlist before it starts, and the India-specific traps to watch for when you pay in dollars.

Every November, a lot of Indian creators open AppSumo, see a wall of "lifetime deal" banners, and buy three tools they never set up. If you sell courses, ebooks or coaching, the sale can save you real money on software you would otherwise pay for every month. It can also turn into a pile of unused logins.
This guide is about doing it the first way. It is based on AppSumo's own pages and on public coverage of earlier sales. We have not tested the tools mentioned here, and nothing below is a promise of savings or income.

When does AppSumo's Black Friday sale happen?
AppSumo has typically run its Black Friday sale from mid-to-late November (2024: 18 Nov–3 Dec; 2025: 17 Nov–2 Dec). As of 20 October 2026, we have not seen dates announced for 2026, so treat any specific date you read elsewhere with caution until AppSumo confirms it.
Based on coverage of the last two years, the sale has tended to follow a pattern:
- Staggered drops. Deals were released in batches over the first few days rather than all at once.
- Prices that rise after each drop. In past years, a deal was at its lowest price for a limited window, then went up once the next batch launched. If a tool is on your list, buying early in its window has mattered.
- A sitewide discount later in the sale. In 2025 this was reported as an extra 10% off from around the second week.
- Extra perks for AppSumo Plus members. Plus members have received an additional discount and extended access to some deals. We cover whether that membership makes sense in a separate post: Is AppSumo Plus worth it before Black Friday?
None of this is guaranteed to repeat in 2026. Plan for the pattern, but check the live sale page when it opens.
Step 1: Write down the tools you already pay for
Before you look at a single deal, list every monthly subscription your business runs on. For most course creators and coaches that list looks something like this:
- Course hosting or an LMS
- Checkout or payment pages
- Email marketing
- A booking calendar for calls
- Video hosting
- Forms or quizzes for lead capture
Next to each one, write what you pay per month and how happy you are with it. A lifetime deal is most useful when it replaces a recurring bill you already have. It is least useful when it adds a new category of software you have no plan to use.
Step 2: Build a shortlist of five, not fifty
Pick the two or three categories where you are either overpaying or unhappy. Then look for deals in only those categories. At the time of writing (20 October 2026), several live AppSumo deals sit squarely in the course-creator stack, including Acadle, OnlineCourseHost.com and Academy LMS for course hosting, Zylvie for checkout pages, KillerPlayer for video embeds, TidyCal for bookings and SendFox for email. We break these down in the best AppSumo lifetime deals for course creators right now.
Deals that are live today may sell out, change tiers or come back with different pricing during Black Friday. A shortlist written in October is a starting point, not a shopping cart.
Step 3: Read the deal page like a contract
For every tool on your shortlist, open the deal page and note:
- The exact limits on each tier. Users, courses, storage, sends, devices. These are what you are actually buying.
- Whether codes stack. Many deals let you buy more than one code to raise limits. Work out how many codes you would need in a year, not just today.
- What "lifetime" covers. On AppSumo, lifetime means the life of the product. If the company shuts down or discontinues the product, your access ends with it. It is not a forever guarantee.
- The refund window. At the time of writing, AppSumo deals carry a 60-day refund window. Put the deadline in your calendar the day you buy.
- Commercial use and add-ons. Some tiers exclude commercial use or keep branding unless you pay a monthly add-on.
Our longer checklist is here: how to evaluate a lifetime deal before you buy.
India-specific things to check
AppSumo prices are in US dollars, and that creates a few gotchas for Indian buyers.
Card charges. You will usually pay by international card. Your bank may add a foreign-transaction markup on top of the dollar price, so the rupee figure on your statement can be higher than a simple conversion suggests.
GST and invoices. Check whether tax is added at checkout and what the invoice shows. If you plan to claim the purchase as a business expense, ask your CA how a USD software purchase should be recorded.
Payment gateways inside the tool. This one catches people out. Many course and checkout tools on AppSumo connect to Stripe and PayPal. For example, Zylvie's deal page lists Stripe and PayPal, and we did not see Razorpay or UPI mentioned. If your students mostly pay by UPI, a tool without Razorpay or a similar Indian gateway may not fit how you actually sell. Confirm gateway support with the vendor before buying.
Language support. If you teach in Hindi or a regional language, check whether the tool supports it. Deal pages often list supported languages without naming Hindi, and you should not assume it is included.
Common mistakes during the sale
- Buying because the price is about to rise. The rising-price format is designed to create urgency. If a tool was not on your list before the sale, a ticking clock is not a reason to add it.
- Buying the smallest tier when you will outgrow it. If you already have 600 students, a tier capped at 200 users is not a bargain.
- Not setting up the tool inside the refund window. If you buy something, use it properly within the first few weeks. That is the only way to know whether to keep it.
- Assuming sold-out deals will return. Some deals that are sold out today may never come back. Do not plan your stack around a maybe.
Who this guide is for, and who should skip the sale
It is for you if you already sell a course, ebook or coaching offer, you pay for at least one tool every month, and you have a clear idea of which subscription you want to replace.
You can probably skip the sale if you have not launched anything yet and are buying tools to feel productive, or if your entire business runs comfortably on free plans. Software rarely fixes a missing offer.
A simple timeline for the next few weeks
- Now: list your subscriptions and pick your two or three target categories.
- Early November: read the deal pages for your shortlist and note limits, tiers and gateway support. Ask vendors questions in the deal page Q&A.
- When the sale opens: check the live prices against your notes. Buy only what is on your list.
- Within two weeks of buying: set up each tool for real, and decide before the refund window closes.

FAQ
Has AppSumo announced its 2026 Black Friday dates? Not as of 20 October 2026, as far as we could find. Past sales ran from mid-to-late November into early December, but check AppSumo directly for 2026 dates.
Are Black Friday prices always lower than regular AppSumo prices? Not necessarily for every deal. In past years many deals had discounted windows, but prices changed after each drop. Compare the live price with the regular price on the deal page before you buy.
Can I get a refund if a tool does not work for me? At the time of writing, AppSumo deals carry a 60-day refund window. Check the terms on the specific deal page, since policies can change.
Do these tools accept UPI payments from my students? It depends on the tool. Many list Stripe and PayPal only. If UPI or Razorpay matters to you, confirm with the vendor before buying.
