AppSumo Plus: Is It Worth Joining Before Black Friday?

Every year before Black Friday, the same question comes up in creator groups: should I join AppSumo Plus first?

Plus is AppSumo's paid membership. It gives you a discount on orders and a few extra perks. Whether it is worth it comes down to one thing: how much you actually plan to spend. This post breaks down what the Plus page lists and walks through the maths. It is based on AppSumo's Plus page and public coverage of previous sales. It is not a recommendation to spend money, and Plus terms can change, so check the Plus page before joining.

What AppSumo Plus costs

At the time of writing (20 October 2026), the Plus page (https://appsumo.com/plus/) lists three options:

• $12 per month
• $99 per year
• $199 per year (Pro)

What the membership includes

According to the Plus page, benefits include:

• 10% off every order
• $100 per year in coupons on the Annual and Pro plans
• Early access and extended deal windows
• Free SendFox and KingSumo Tier 1

Let us look at each one in practical terms.

10% off every order

This is the core benefit. It applies to purchases you make while you are a member. If you buy a $109 deal, 10% off saves you about $10.90.

$100 per year in coupons

On the Annual and Pro plans, the page lists $100 a year in coupons. How useful this is depends on the coupon terms, such as minimum order values or which deals they apply to. Read the conditions before counting them as cash.

Early access and extended deal windows

This matters most during big sales. In 2025, according to third-party coverage, Plus members had "Extended Access" to Black Friday deals until 5 December, a few days after the main sale ended on 2 December. If you tend to make decisions slowly, extra time can be worth something.

Free SendFox and KingSumo Tier 1

SendFox is AppSumo's email tool. Its lifetime deal was listed at $29 at the time of writing, and we cover it in SendFox for creators. If you were going to buy SendFox anyway, getting it through Plus effectively reduces the cost of the membership. Check the Plus page for exactly what tier and limits are included.

How Plus has worked during past Black Friday sales

AppSumo has typically run its Black Friday sale from mid-to-late November (2024: 18 Nov–3 Dec; 2025: 17 Nov–2 Dec). Dates for 2026 had not been announced when we wrote this.

Based on coverage of the 2025 sale, there was a sitewide 10% discount for everyone later in the sale, and Plus members got an extra 10% on top. Third-party sources described the combined discount as roughly 19%, since two 10% discounts applied one after the other work out to 19%, not 20%.

There is no guarantee that 2026 will work the same way. If Plus discounts stack with Black Friday discounts again, the membership is more valuable during the sale. If they do not, the maths changes. Check the terms when the sale opens.

The break-even maths

Here is a simple way to think about it. We will use the $99 annual plan and ignore the coupons for now.

At 10% off, you need to spend $990 in a year for the discount alone to cover the $99 fee. That is a lot of deals for most solo creators.

Now add the other pieces:

• If you would have bought SendFox at $29 anyway, getting it free covers part of the fee. You now need about $700 of other purchases to break even on the discount.
• If you can use the $100 in annual coupons on deals you were going to buy, those alone could cover the fee.

The monthly plan is different. At $12, you could join for a single month during a sale. If you spend $120 or more in that month, the 10% discount covers the fee. But check whether the monthly plan includes the same benefits as annual, since the coupons are listed for Annual and Pro.

A worked example

Say a course creator has a Black Friday shortlist of two deals that were live at the time of writing (20 October 2026):

• OnlineCourseHost.com at $99 per code
• TidyCal Individual at $29

That totals $128. At 10% off, Plus saves about $12.80. On the monthly plan at $12, that roughly breaks even. On the annual plan, it does not, unless the coupons and free SendFox are useful to you.

These prices may change before or during the sale, so redo the maths with live prices.

When Plus makes sense

• You have a clear shortlist that adds up to a meaningful amount.
• You would use SendFox anyway.
• You can actually use the annual coupons on things you need.
• Extended access gives you time to decide without rushing.

When to skip it

• You are buying one or two small deals.
• You do not have a shortlist yet and are joining "just in case."
• You would be tempted to buy more because you feel the membership needs to pay for itself. That is the worst outcome, since the discount only saves money on things you would have bought anyway.

India-specific notes

• USD billing. Plus is charged in dollars. Your bank may add a foreign-transaction markup.
• Recurring charges. If you pick the monthly plan to cover one sale, set a reminder to cancel if you do not want it to continue. Check how recurring international card charges work with your bank, as rules for recurring payments on Indian cards can affect whether renewals go through.
• Tax. Check what appears at checkout and ask your CA how to record it if it is a business expense.

Who should consider Plus, and who should skip

Consider it if you are a creator with a real shortlist, you plan to spend a meaningful amount during the sale, and you would use SendFox or the coupons.
